Tour Itinerary

Day 1Arrive at Hangzhou (D)

China bike tour from Hangzhou

You can choose Shanghai as your arriving airport to China as Hangzhou is not far way, a shuttle bus or train from Shanghai takes you to Hangzhou very quickly, the metro system of both cities are also very friendly to self-guided tourists. Meeting our guide and check in hotel, our team will give you a brief of this tour.

Day 2Hangzhou to Longmen Village (B,L,D) - Around 80KMs

China tea tour, Bike to Qiandaohu

Following the only ‘flat day route’ the whole trip. A leisure long distance ride allowed us bike to the south of Hangzhou city to Longmen Village – The Dragons’ Door in Chinese, where well-preserved buildings from Ming and Qin dynasty still kept. In the famous of Chinese story of ‘Three Kingdoms’ one of the top 3 powers are with a family name Sun, that’s why this place is called the Door/Family of the dragons as those people named Sun, used to live control the areas.

Day 3 Longmen to Pujiang (B,L,D) - Around 80KMs

Villages near Yellow Mountain

Today’s riding difficult is similar to yesterday but with more undulation. The not-that hard biking will lead us all the way to the hometown of Chinese padlocks – Pujiang, Pujiang is now belonged to Jinhua city where the top one small commodity markets of China locates. The region is of high reputation from the history for its calligraphy, scroll painting, home textiles, etc. Known as the base of culture and religions, that’s why all the way from our cycling, Confucian relics and historical tracks can be found beside the scenery.

Day 4Pujiang to Zhuge Village (B,L,D) - Around 86KMs

Local ancient villages at Qiandaohu

A short climb in the early morning starts our riding today and then with the rest of riding on flat through villages, we rest at our bikes overnight at the Zhuge Village, a small famous town built based on the Chinese Eight-Diagrams and Fengshui, known as the living place of the top strategist described in the book the Three Kingdoms. Have couple hours rest and walking around the village is not a bad idea as late afternoon activities.

Day 5Zhuge Village to Jiande (B,L,D) - Around 72KMs

Bike tour from Qiandaohu to Yellow Mountain

An easy 72KM riding today back to the north later, we will arrive to Jiande city and near the Thousand Lakes areas. In old days, the city was known as Yanzhou areas and the rich hometown for rice and fish, the new city of Jiande and the old ones still preserves some interesting areas for its city walls and local temple fairs. Some extra ride in the city is recommended and more rests tonight too as from tomorrow, we will head into mountain areas.

Day 6Jiande to Thousand Island Lake (B,L,D) - Around 62KMs

Local fish man at Qiandaohu, bike china

Endless undulations starts from today, after a not-that-easy but not-very-challenging riding, we can enjoy our stays and exploration at the central Thousand Lakes areas.

Day 7 Cycling around the Lake to Weiping(B,L,D) - Around 56KMs

Local fishing village, bike Qiandaohu, China

A half day staying before leaving the center or optional activities that interest us covers the riding blank on the morning, we will face two difficult days from today on our way to the Yellow Mountain direction.

Day 8Weiping to Shexian Around (B,L,D) 71KM

Cycle ancient village, Yellow Mountain

Riding along the valleys/mountains (not fixed itinerary, one of our guides will test difficulty and scenic levels and give our suggestions which way to choose). A whole day riding along the Xing’an Jiang River and the hidden villages allows us to check in our hotel at Shexian in the late afternoon – a place where the old Huizhou areas in the history and the old city locates.

Day 9Shexian to Tangkou (B,L,D) 45KM

Oil seed flower season at Hangzhou

Through the peaceful ride for around half day, we will reach the transit center of the Yellow Moutain – Tangkou town. This is one of the most commercialized and popular attractions of China so we will arrive there and will not get up the mountain today. The hotel price and terrible food on the mountain are just two of hundreds of the reasons that not staying with the crowds for overnight, a cable car up and down and then walk the less travelled highlight parts and enjoy the hike and feeling of the mountain (because Chinese prefer lazy cable cars).

Day 10Yellow Mountain Hike (B,L,D)

Hiking Yellow Mountain, China

Any cable car fee is not included. And we will need take both cable car up and down (also not too much interesting things worth to see during walking uphill) and pack our own food as lunch and use the cable car (before 16:00) to get down from the mountain and enjoy our nicer food and rooms down the mountain areas. Our hike will be focused on the West Lake Grand Canyon areas of the mountain.

Day 11Cycling to Hongcun and Xidi Village around (B,L,D) 47KMs Biking + 12KM Walking

Hongcun village at Yellow Mountain

The famous Hongcun Village and Xidi Village is approachable today, a half biking later, we are possible to have a car helps us to delivery our bikes and luggage to hotel while leaving us for a half day hiking through the ancient path hidden between the villages. Or we will just skip the top popular but 200% commercialized villages of Hongcun and Xidi and choose other options to ride or having more fun.

Day 12Xidi Drive to Wuyuan(B,L,D). Non-Cycle

Ancient villages among Yellow Mountain, China bike tour

We will consider using a local van/truck transfer us directly to Wuyuan directly instead of cycling due to the limit of time and also the sensibility controlled by local military as today we are across the boundary of two provinces again (from Anhui to Jiangxi), the areas related with two provinces of China are always the most dangerous and sensitive place for foreign cyclists, and we might need 2- 3 days to ride the whole way through it if getting trouble with it. Having a car and drive us is not a bad idea for today, especially after the long climbs on bikes and pains on knees at the Yellow Mountain.

Day 13Wuyuan to Jingdezhen (B,L,D) – around 99KM

Ancient porcelain capital, biking China

The last full day cycling to Jingdezhen ends our tour at the capital city for Chinaware and porcelain.

Day 14Jingdezhen Half Day Leisure Visit, departure. (B)

Extra half day with our guide or on your own to explore the city and end our service.
